Behind The Lens

Location

This photo, of a King Penguin colony, has been taken at Salisbury Plain, South Georgia Island. Antarctica

Time

I would have been in the morning.

Lighting

Penguins are unafraid on land. They evolved without many land predators and are trusting to a fault.

Equipment

Canon 5DMarkII Canon 70mm to 200mm / f2.8 No tripot No flash

Inspiration

King Penguins are especially curious, during the breeding season, they come ashore and nest in huge colonies called "rookeries". Some rookeries, like this one, include thousands of penguins and cover a very large area of South Georgia.

Editing

Not much for this photo, just adjusted the light and colour.

In my camera bag

Canon 1DX Mark II Canon 70x200mm / f2.8 lens Canon 85mm / f1.2 lens Canon 300mm / f2.8 lens

Feedback

You have to travel to Antarctica to photograph this amazing wildlife.
