Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was from a trip to Elkton to visit there Butterfly Garden and community center. The garden has all different sorts of flowers and grasses. These blooming sunflowers caught my eye. They were tall and eloquent just waiting for their photo to be taken. I had never done a close up black and white like this before and fell in love with the contrast and texture. It has become one of my favorite flower shots.Time
Mid August, around noon or so.Lighting
This was all natural lighting. I used no flashes or strobe lights on this.Equipment
I used a canon 5d mark iiii. No tripods or flashes.Inspiration
The simple beauty of the flower. Nothing more powerful than natures beauty.Editing
I used lightroom to process this photos. I really didn't do any extra editing to it other than cropping and making my background darker. I did sharpen it a tad to get the texture markings. In my camera bag
My camera bag is usually heavy. It always!!!! Has two to three extra lens with different filters just in case I want to try something off the wall. It has a flash, and off the camera light, a flashlight and rain gear. There is also a smaller tripod and monopod.Feedback
Just be willing to think out of the box. Having a unique and slightly different photo is often a chance to show variety and uniqueness in your work. Don't be afraid to try something new.
