This was taken outside of my apartment in my stairwell.Time
A favorite shot of the evening. We had already spent a few hours shooting prior to this being taken. Being early November, the sun had set quite early. I had stepped outside for a quick smoke. As I was re-entering my apartment, I saw how the light was falling in that spot. I asked Sekaa if she'd step out for a few quick shots. ;)Lighting
Lighting was simply the overhead LED porch light.Equipment
Canon 6D, Canon 24-104 F4L @ 47mm @ f4, shutter 1/50Inspiration
As I said, I was out smoking. As I turned to go back inside, I noted the light and the framing of the handrails. It reminded me a bit of a few pictures by other photographers, one being Gary Breckheimer's photos in the streets.Editing
Cloned out a dyer vent, converted to B&W and a bit of sharpening In PS CS6. I try NOT to spend more than 15 minutes on a photo. In my camera bag
Canon 6d, Canon 50mm 1.4, Canon 24-105 F4L, Tamron 85mm F1.8 (with a bunch of letters on it... ;) ), 2 Canon Speedlights (430EX and EXii), extra batteries, a few filters, odd and ends.Feedback
Over the past 17 years, I've worked with Professional traveling models alone and 1st timers either in organized groups shoots, or alone. Either way, I find I tend to get my "better" shots towards the end of the shoot. We tend to become more acquainted/relaxed. Many times the better shots are "spur of the moment", i.e. "let's try this". Also, discuss the models' comfort zone beforehand. Never push for anything beyond it. Don't be that "guy with camera"!
