The defensive battery, Fort Perch Rock at the mouth of the River Mersey, UK, was built in 1825 following the end of the Napoleonic wars in Europe. On such a stormy, windswept day, with the loose sand blowing across the beach like snakes on a plain, I thought it looked particularly striking.

Thank you so much, Jess. The white streaks in the foreground are made by loose sand being blown towards me - but they conveniently act as leading lines :)
