Behind The Lens

Location

We keep a zoo membership annually just to be able to have a photo shoo. This day, early was cool (unlikely in New Orleans) and the animals were enjoying a leisurely brunch and most active. This fella was exceptional!! Audobon Zoo

Time

The best time to hit the zoo is when the weather is comfortable and brunch is being served... This shot was taken around 10AM

Lighting

It was a beautiful day with nice light, not too harsh..

Equipment

I shoot the zoo with my Nikon D5300 & Tamron 14-400 lens.. it covers almost every situation. Especially bringing the animals close.

Inspiration

I love doing zoo & insecterium shoots. The animals, birds and butterflies are always such great subjects.. I love the animated behaviours of the animals.

Editing

I use LightRoom and presets from several vendors to create my finish products. I took an online course to learn this Adobe product inside and out & still have more to learn!! I highly recommend to bring ur product to the next level.. I'm sure folks would say the same to me about 'graduating' to PS.. wink...

In my camera bag

In addition to above mentioned camera and lens.. I carry my dedicated macro/Nikon and always, always, cleaning cloth. I push my glasses against my face and it becomes a necessity!
