Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken on a walk in the forest just outside Seefeld in Austria.

Time

It was taken at lunch time as we walked to our lunch stop on the mountain.

Lighting

The lighting was actually very bright due to the sunlight on the snow but it was a very sharp and clear part of the day which helped.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D750 with 35mm f2D fixed prime lens with no flash or tripod.

Inspiration

I liked the rustic simplicity of the building and the sharp contrast against the pure white snow.

Editing

Post processing was minimal as I shoot in RAW but all I need to do was lift the highlights slightly and a bit of contrast.

In my camera bag

I always travel light as most of my photography is out walking. I tend to use the 35mm lens for 95% of the time now as it is tack sharp all the time, I can shoot in the dark and its light enough to carry on the camera body all day.

Feedback

The only advice I can give to catch the same type of picture is to keep taking plenty of shots from different angles taking into account any cloud breaks to get the best shot you can.
