Turtle shaped rocks, reaching right to the point of these cliffs, witnessing some fleeting moment of light, in imitation of so many animals in this world : witnessing the sixth wave of extinction with endless sadness.

Location
This photo was taken during a solo trip exploring the Oregon coast. I love to explore less visited areas, and there was a section of the Oregon coast where trails led out to these spectacular cliffs. This one small area with very unusual rock formations and extrusions, colour and texture contrasts was totally captivating. I saw no one on the trail or this section of coast. So magical to then witness it in stunning sunset light, with the sounds of seals and sea lions for company.Time
I love the golden hours. This was taken in the early part of the sunset hour, while direct light from the sinking sun was lighting up the entire coastline.Lighting
I waited for the sunset light because I wanted the colour and texture of the cliffs accentuated by glowing in the low angle of the light at sunset.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D850, Nikkor 14-24mm lens, and Haida ND filter. Really Right Stuff tripod with Acratech ball head.Inspiration
I was reflecting on the current state of our world ( damaged) : The 'turtles' appeared to be looking at a landscape as if to say a long goodbye, as if they are looking at a home place, soft light, beautiful, serene, but they know its a memory, a moment, not an hour, not a day, just a moment of peacefulness that does not reflect the experience of the rest of the other moments of the day. The photo is silent, but it suggests a silent moment also, before the noise returns, and the place that was once home only appears the same, but it could be suggested, almost uninhabitable.Editing
The only processing was subtle dodging and burning in non destructive ways ( using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Camera Raw) to enhance the light and help the storytelling quality of the image. In my camera bag
Ordinarily I have my Nikon D850, Nikkor lenses: 14-24 mm, 24-70mm, 80-400mm and 105mm Micro. Really Right Stuff Tripod, Acratech ball head and Haida ND and CPR filters.Feedback
