Behind The Lens

Location

Our local Sea Turtle Patrol aka Micklers Landing Turtle Patrol evaluates each nest 3 days "Post Emergence" to count the total number of eggs, viable, non-viable, mortality etc. During the evaluations some hatchling may still be attempting to leave the nest. This picture is from an evaluation where a live hatchling was freed from the nest and allowed to complete its journey to the Atlantic Ocean. Tutrtles are not placed in the ocean as their initial crawl helps waken muscle groups necessary for swimming.
