The photo was taken on the beach of the TUI Magic Life Club Waterworld in Antalya, Turkey.Time
We met early in the morning at 7 am. The light is still fine at that time of the day and it's possible to keep your eyes open even when you look against the sun. At that time there are not so many people at the beach so you can try out different positions and not have people walk into the frame all the time.Lighting
I used only natural light. I take pictures as a hobby and don't own any extra light equipment except a flash light. But the sun was fine and so I didn't need anything else.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 760d with an 17-70 f 2,8-4,0 lens from Sigma. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I love to take portraits and pictures of people on the beach and in the water, so using the wonderful hotel beach was just perfect. I love Kristoffer's face and wanted to get a close up. Having some sand on his arm and face added to the atmosphere.Editing
I don't take RAW pictures, so I had to make do with the camera image. I used photoshop to turn and crop it and then decided to change the color to black and white. In my camera bag
The first things to go into the bag are of course my trusted Canon 760d and the 17-70 f 2,8-4,0 lens from Sigma. Since Christmas I have a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II USM which has to come along too. I also pack a 50 mm f 1,8 from Canon because it is very light and light sensitive. My little bean bag is a must, not only for having a dry and clean place to put the camera but because it keeps the equipment from going all over in the back pack.Feedback
As a hobby photographer I usually ask people I know, if they like to do a photo shooting or they ask me. Mostly I know some of the shots I like to try with that particular person, but usually we end up doing all sort of different things because it develops during the photo shoot. Especially if you want to do a close up, your model needs to be comfortable with the camera. How to make that happen, depends on the person: with some I talk about something totally different or let them do what they are good at (e.g. with dancers I will ask the for dance moves or jumps). Kristoffer was very comfortable with the camera. I knew I wanted a close up, so for this picture I was lying down on the sand a few meters away from him and he started to give me different looks, some movements with hands, arms etc. I tend to take a lot more pictures than I probably need, but better a few too many than missing out on something.
