Magnificent shot… Nicely composed… Great color and detail… A real wall hanger…LC "Dutch" - FoxMetz Images

I agree with Dutch on all counts! Definitely would look amazing on a large canvas as the main feature in a living or dining room. :-)

Location
I took this image in the southern Adirondack town of Lake Luzerne on a very beautiful October morning.Time
I was up at 4:00 in the morning so I could make the 1.5 hour drive to meet a photography group. It was dark when I arrived and we all wore headlamps while we made it to the shore of the lake. We set up our tripods and waited as the first light of dawn greeted us. It was so exciting to anticipate the dawn as mist over the lake and early dawn colors became visible.Lighting
The lighting was perfect as the early dawn sun was filtered by mist over the lake. The early sunlight made the Fall colors on the trees really pop. To make things even more perfect we were able to capture two early morning fishermen.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D600 camera. I used a wide angel Tamron f 2.8 16 - 28 mm lens. I took images that morning on my tripod.Inspiration
Fall in the Adirondacks is particularly beautiful. I hoped to catch the colors and "feel" for the Adirondack landscape. I love pre-dawn and sunrise lighting so was eager to meet this photography group that morning.Editing
I took this image with my Nikon DSLR and I usually shoot in RAW. I use Photoshop for post-processing. I brought down the highlights and decreased the shadows. I also increased the saturation slightly. Finally I cropped the photograph to get better view of the fishing boat.In my camera bag
I usually have my Nikon D600 and my Panasonic FZ Lumix 1000. I carry a wide-angle lens and a 70 - 200 mm lens in addition to the kit lens on my Nikon. Lots of miscellaneous gear including filters, extra batteries, lens cleaner, etc.Feedback
Fall in the Adirondacks is particularly beautiful. The colors can be spectacular. The cool mornings often create rising mist over the lake which contributes to a dreamy quality to the image. It also acts as a natural diffuser which contributes to a soft quality in the image. I recommend scouting out a body of water where you can look east to the rising sun and get there at least a half hour before sunrise so you can be prepared. I usually shoot with a tripod so I can use the lowest ISO setting possible. Then I just take lots and lots of pictures from many different perspectives. Bringing my images home to process is like panning for gold.
