Location
This photo was taken in Boracay Island in the Philippines.Time
This photo launched my lifelong love for photography. I probably took this photo around 5:30 pm, shortly after the sun set.Lighting
I am a self-taught photographer and although I love to take photos of anything I find attractive, I love taking photos of sunsets and nature. I have no knowledge of artificial lighting, so I depend solely on natural lighting outdoors.Equipment
This was shot on my wife’s auto focus film Minolta camera with a fixed Minolta Rokkor 1:2.8 f=38 mm. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I was trying to take a photo of my wife during our honeymoon in this beautiful island which was not so popular back then. Now, to come up with this photo one needs to employ Photoshop to remove hundreds of humans from the scene.Editing
I submitted the negative for processing at a local camera supply shop and when I came to pick it up, I liked this particular shot. So many years afterwards, I scanned this photo into my old I-Mac and can’t remember if I played with the built-in post processing feature of my computer or not. If I did, it was very minimal. Until now, I don’t have Photoshop or any other photo processing apps.In my camera bag
I normally have Sony A7r and two lenses: Sony FE24-70mm F2.8 and Sony FE 1,8/55. I also have I-Phone 8 camera on my pocket.Feedback
Boracay Island is still rated by Condé Nast travelers as one of the best. It’s still possible to get a similar photo when one goes there at sunset. With the onslaught of better cameras and processing apps, one can definitely come up with much better photos. Keep shooting what you love. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
