This photo was taken in my home town in Ontario. It was a beautiful fall day.Time
This was taken early evening before the sun goes down. The sun was not that bright so it seemed like the perfect time to get some shots in. So we found a spot under a tree with red leaves and sprawled out the blanket. My model got comfy for the photograph and took out her phone with one hand and held her coffee in the other.Lighting
I wanted shade but some colourful subdued light so the model would be the center of attention.Equipment
This was taken with my Canon EOS 80d, 85mm f/1.8 USM. I used a tripod.Inspiration
The leaves on the ground and the fall coloured trees that drew me in. The light seemed to be the perfect light that would be darker in the background and the subject brighter. It just felt right. It looked a like a picnic spot.Editing
So for this pic I had to darken the colours in the background and make the leaves appear redder on the tree. I did my processing in photoshop mix by taking the subject out of the background and made two layers. One for the subject and one for the background. Once both were completed, I merged them and did som final touch ups. Voila! In my camera bag
I basically take a external flash, my canon 80d, my 75-250 zoom lens, my 85mm lens, and my 50mm lens, batteries, and extra cards. I occasionally bring macro lens as well. I also bring my tripods (regular size and mini) and my monopod.Feedback
I’m still learning. I have tons to learn but what I have learned is that you should always try to take pics early morning or just before sundown. Also, if you want the blurred background read up on your camera and lens. Take some time to practice different places etc. I learn as I go. I think that we all read a lot about how to take great shots but then we find that we have to practice. What one photographer does doesn’t always work for someone else. So practice, practice, practice. That’s what I’m doing .....
