Behind The Lens
Location
This was taken in the bathroom, in our house, since it was the one room with a mirror.Time
The time of day was not as important since I used a flash for lighting.Lighting
For this shot, the lighting primarily was the flash.Equipment
This was shot using a 28-90mm lens at 90mm on a Canon 6D, with flash and timer.Inspiration
I was experimenting with self-portraits using a mirror and the flash and timer on the camera. The look on my face was after multiple tries while just not getting the look I wanted.Editing
I don't like to do too much to an image if I can help it. I guess you could say I am quite old school in that way. We did not have a lot of money growing up, so trying to get it right in the camera is how I have always approached photography. I will however usually adjust for brightness and contrast. In my camera bag
I really don't keep a camera bag ready, since my photography interests change from day to day. For example, if I shoot something macro, then I have the Minolta extension bellows (another thrift store find) setup on the Sony A3000. For more general things, it might be the Canon XS1 or the 6D.Feedback
Use the equipment that you have to make images. You don't have to go out and get the most expensive camera or have a professional studio to produce interesting images that people will like.
