FollowEurope’s had one of the best autumn’s this year & for the fall break we’d driven to Switzerland. The colours were just magnificent around Thunersee & Lauterbrunnen. Sadly, the leaves are falling fast & will soon disappear!

Location
The photo was taken at Lake Thun in Switzerland. I’d recently started using a drone & this was one of my first few shots that I’d taken.Time
We were on a family vacation, so I was wake up around 5 am everyday & drove around looking for possible sunrise compositions. After a couple of days of driving on this road, I knew I’d get a great drone shot if only I could muster the courage to fly it.. I finally did & was thrilled with the view of the treetops against the striking colours of the lake.Lighting
As this is a pretty busy stretch of road, I had to shoot this early in the morning ensuring that I timed it such that the light was sufficient & just before the daily traffic started.Equipment
This shot was taken on a DJI SparkInspiration
I wanted to use the s-curve in the road to split the frame diagonally while contrasting that with the pop of colour on the trees. I managed to shoot an added dimension of the lake too, which I suppose sets this image apart from the similar drone shots which one normally finds.Editing
Normally the image resolution from the DJI Spark doesn’t allow very much of editing except for basic colour, contrast adjustments - which is what I’ve used.In my camera bag
My bag has my Nikon D750 with 24-120mm & 55-300mm lenses. Additionally, I’ve started carrying my DJI Spark for drone shots.Feedback
The challenge in shooting fall colours is to get the light right so as not to over or underexpose the shot. Do your homework & check the location at different times of the day to get a feel for the conditions. That really helped me for this shot.
