According to Inuit Mythology a strange hybrid known as “Az’-i-wû-gûm Ki-mukh’-tin” lives amongst the herds or walruses. It’s described as having a long, thin, black scaled body, thick, sturdy dog-like legs, and a ferocious dog-like head. Add to that a thick rounded thick tail to strike and kill its enemies, and you have one mean sounding creature.

So it would make sense then that if such a creature existed that the local population would need to be protected from this beast. It seems entirely possibly then that these oddly serrated glaciers may well once have been carved to stop the creatures from taking both Inuit and Sled Dogs as prey.

With the polar caps receding, many of the these protective features are now floating as slowly melting icebergs. And with the removal from the land the sharp edges of these protective Rumble Strips no longer offer this protection. Does this mean the “Az’-i-wû-gûm Ki-mukh’-tin” will make a return?
