Congrats on the win! I think the color of the post helps the color of the coat and the girl blend in better then if it was not there. Take the post away and I think you have changed the shot to much.

I am going to catch heck over this and this has nothing to do with any of my photographs. There are litterly hundreds of fantastic photographers and there respective works here. While this is a great photograph there are dozens that should have been chosen over this one. Yes I realize I am a 'cad" for saying what many are to afraid to say. Once again my photographs are not even near the level of the quality of the other phographs in this arena. It is just a fact that this photograph does not rise to the "Photograph of the Month"... My name is Charles E. Grubbs my wife who this will be attributed to who has her site under her name has nothing to do with this statement. I own it.

Hey Charles, I don't think you should worry too much about catching flak, social media is part and parcel stating one's opinion and has given rise to open forums and discussions;in this case criticism and it's good to stand by one's words- I know I do. I on one hand agree with you in some part; I love and would have chosen "Impact" by AldoViola or Autumn by Tanyamarkova some other finalists just to name a couple; I just never go on other people's successes to voice it adamantly, form, decorum- anyway check those to out their awesome if you haven't already. I don't think photographers are afraid like you said to say what you say, it's just probably not their style and you get trashed by clients in this job so we may have a little more empathy for our fellow photographers. I think/feel what many good photographers try to stay away from is dealing in absolute or "fact" (your word) regarding in the literal sense an opinion for a medium that at it"s very heart possibly, hopefully is subjective (maybe barring some photojournalism) Photography like painting or cinema holds different truths and variant meanings to most as again possibly it should. If one as a metaphor were to say Matisse or Picasso were amazing and Egon Shiele was horrible I think it would be endless and meaningless takes on great works. the same for the Magnum greats people see Elliot Erwit over Henri Cartier-Bresson and I think their art is suppose to be in different stratum and naturally is by a subjective viewer (for the record I'm not putting myself anywhere near them that's obvious by my work but one can hope). Your critiques given/stated as "fact" are good for someone like me and the arc for a strong photographer in general. I own it as well it as well more than you know as i shoot, style, wardrobe, set/prop decorate 90% percent of my shoots with a de-emphasis on massive retouching (admittedly maybe I don't own that one, 'cuz I suck at photoshop). I'm young in my photography career and still at breakneck, leaning into my turns as I like the challenge and ascension is my game.....Kindly Peter Lin
