What a sad moment, I thought as I handed the camera to my better half. He stated that clicks are secondary to enjoying nature.
I looked to my left at the tree. Shikra, a raptor, appeared to be waiting for me. I reclaimed the camera and took 5 shots before it flew away. :)
Female banded goshawks are slightly larger and have a less red (yellowish orange) iris.

Beautiful composition in this photo too. The hawk perched on one foot… is a bonus!
It happens to me too: I go to the forest or park wishing to take pics of a certain bird and I take pictures of another bird or butterfly instead. Never know what I will get.
