Location
This is a photo of the castle New Schwanstein in Bavaria, Germany. A world famous place, visited by over a million people a year.Time
It was about 4.30 pm. And I was about to surrender after waiting for 45 minutes for the mist to clear and have me let a glimpse at the castle. The chance to take a picture like this is rare, as the background is often blue sky or grey. The mist is like a lake in which the castle flows.Lighting
I prefer natural colors and natural light. The atmosphere should be reflected in the picture, autumn, mystical, fairy. I hope I reached my goal.Equipment
This picture was handtaken with my Nikon D5100. The lens was a Sigma 10-20.Inspiration
I had seen a photo of the castle in the mist, which fascinated me. So I took my chance on a cold november day. It was worth waiting.Editing
In this case I did not. I prefer natural light/photo though. So all I do mostly is some color correction on my laptop. For me being on my way with my cam is an adventure, experimenting and learning by doing. In my camera bag
My camera is a Nikon D5100 with a Sigma 17-50mm. Next to that I have a Sigma 10-20 and a Nikkor 55-200mm. For my long exposure I have a set of grey filters. And of course the tripod must not fail. It is a simple gear, but enough for me and my goals.Feedback
Patience and time. Never be in a hurry, as you may miss the best moment for a great picture. Know your goal. If you look for a location, perhaps go there one day before to find the best place and if its suitable. That is what I do, especially with sunsets.
