I had been a police officer for 9 years when my daughter was born via emergency C-Section in October 2011. The worst feeling in the world was knowing that I had spent my entire adult life helping people, but was powerless to save my own little girl. I was forced to watch from the sidelines as she fought for survival for over 6 weeks, before ultimately passing away from complications associated with Prematurity. November is Prematurity Awareness month. You can join the fight by remembering to wear purple, and donate to charities such as the March of Dimes and Ronald McDonald House.
