You have some amazing images. Many taken with the omd mk2. I bought the same camera several months ago, and although I have taken some good pictures with it, I can’t pan with it or get any decent pictures when the subject is moving. I have reverted to my canon M5. I was just wondering if you had also experienced any problems with this camera. Or would you suggest that I just need to get to know it better? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

WOW!! Amazing Shot! Now I need to visit Alaska!

Behind The Lens

Location
We were sailing on the 70ft Island Roamer of Bluewater Adventures in Frederick Sound in southeast Alaska in mid July. We were following a pod of about 10 humpback whales that were bubblenet feeding. we had been watching them for about 30 minutes when all of a sudden several whales started breaching. We even saw two breach together -- and of course all I got was a nice picture of two large splashes -- together. Then right near to that breach -- as I had my camera up and ready -- this fellow leaped out of the sound. It is an incredible spectacle to see these 50 foot animals leap!!
Time
It was mid morning and there was a high overcast with moderate wind. The light was diffuse which helped being on the water and did not have to deal with high contrast.
Lighting
Not really. I did not use any polarizer that day as the light was diffuse and I wanted all the light I could get to keep my shutter speed up to catch the action.
Equipment
This was taken with an Olympus EM-1 M2 with the Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro lens. The photo was taken at 80mm, F5, 1/1000, ISO 800.
Inspiration
A beautiful place with majestic marine animals being themselves -- couldn't not try and take some photos!!
Editing
Minimal post processing. Set the black and white points in Lightroom and then did some minor contrast and color correction using ON1 Photo Raw.
In my camera bag
I have moved to Olympus mirrorless cameras and use the OMD EM-1 M2 and Olympus Pro lenses. I had been shooting with Nikon D610 for several years but wanted to lighten the load so moved to micro four thirds and Olympus. I am very please with the image quality and the significantly lighter equipment load with the same reach in terms of telephoto.
Feedback
The most important thing is to "be there". And to be proficient with your camera equipment. That takes some practice till you do not have to think too much as to settings etc when an opportunity presents itself! So keep shooting and do critical self analysis and improvement will come.
