Nisa (also Parthaunisa) was an ancient settlement of the Iranic peoples, located near (modern-day) Bagir village, 18 km southwest of Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. The capital of ancient Parthia existed in the first millenium BC. Taken on my tour of Central Asia, September 2018. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007.
