Regal beauty was my first reaction when I spotted this lioness in the bush of Africa, soaking up the late afternoon sun while her two cubs played nearby. She briefly turned her gaze to my jeep, determined we were no threat, and returned to a brief rest in the warm sunlight. The grass and bush perfectly framed this majestic cat.

I chose to present this image in black and white, allowing the viewer to focus on the serenity of the scene.
