Behind The Lens

Location

This is in Grafton Notch State Park in Grafton, Maine.

Time

This was taken in the early morning. Had to drive a couple hours to get to this spot.

Lighting

It was very foggy this day which was blessing in my eyes. I feel it creates more dynamic light.

Equipment

Canon 5D Mk iv, 24-105 f/4 L, hand held shot in between passing logging trucks. f/4 1/60 ISO 50 24mm

Inspiration

Fall in Maine can be very short. You have to catch it just right in different sections of the state. This area has all the items that I love to photograph. Leading lines, vanishing points, foliage, mountains and fog. I just really like road shots.

Editing

Very simple edits in Lightroom. I try to keep things mostly natural.

In my camera bag

Canon 5D Mk iv, a multitude of landscape lenses and always my 100-400mm. I actually use it quite often for landscapes shots. Induro GIT 305 L with a Benro G3

Feedback

Drive around a lot! Look for roads that have an opening on one end with a long straight portion. Curvy works too. Just be extra careful on busy roads. Make sure you pull over in a safe spot. Pay attention to your surroundings. Get your settings right before you get near the road.
