Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on my daughter's wedding day (she's the one on the right) at the bungalow where she and her bridesmaids were staying.

Time

It was at late morning on a bright sunny day.

Lighting

It was taken indoors where the walls were mainly white and the natural sunlight was muted by the semi-transparent white curtains. I didn't use any flash or reflectors as I was unassisted.

Equipment

I used my old EOS 500D DSLR with 18-200mm zoom lens and not much else. I shot it handheld.

Inspiration

It was my daughter Tabitha's wedding and she had hired a team of professional photographers to shoot video and still photos but being a passionate amateur photographer I wanted to shoot some still photos myself.

Editing

I did my usual adjustments on dehazing, clarity, sharpening, contrast, brightness, vibrance and I used reversed vignetting to clean up the background to put focus on the faces.

In my camera bag

Not much, just my spare battery and les cleaning cloth.

Feedback

It was my daughter's wedding day and I was taking some photos along with the professional team that I noticed were very friendly and put everyone at ease and relaxed. I shot alone and mostly candid shots with minimal posing instructions. I was able to capture the shot because of my warm relationship with my daughter. It helped that she loved to be photographed and I have been taking photos of her since she was a baby!
