Behind The Lens

Location

This is a picture of the wine cellars at wine cellar park in Dunbar, WV. This is a small park in the middle of town. There are plenty of trails including a few heading up the mountain to a man made lake.

Time

I believe this was taken just before noon. It was a really nice day and I had so time so I went out to find some interesting shots. The wine cellars, being a historic landmark, was a prime option. I took many picture from all angles and this was the one I liked most.

Lighting

The lighting wasn't too bad here the trees helped filter a bit of the sunlight. Slight overcast also helped a lot. I would prefer some golden hour lighting, but I don't believe there's good coverage where the cellars sit.

Equipment

I'm a bit of a laid back photography so I don't have too much equipment to switch in and out. So for this shot I used my d3300 and a kit 18-55 lens. At the time this image was taken I only had a 18-55 and a 55-200, and 55mm wasnt wide enough.

Inspiration

Location inspired this photo mostly. In front of the structure is a creek with steep sides, so images from the front were not as interesting as I'd like. In order to fit the entire structure I had to move back which wasn't possible from the front so I went to the only straight side.

Editing

Yes, I did some post work very little though. I only every tweak exposure, contrast, and clarity in the majority of my images. In this photo I also worked with the saturation and vibrance.

In my camera bag

As of late my EDC camera bag is my d3300, 18-55mm, 50mm, 70-300mm, a flash with remote kit, tripod, and some filters. All my gear is fairly cheap beginner kit stuff but I have had no issues with any of it.

Feedback

There are always little nooks that have hidden treasures in them. Exploration is the best thing. Sure you'll want to go to the common places get shots other have gotten maybe put your on spin on it that's fine. Sometimes though you need to turn down a random Street and keep your eyes open.
