JMT DAY 5 - SUNRISE AT ROSALIE LAKE
Sunrise at Rosalie Lake
When I awoke, to my pleasant delight, the sky was filled with cirrocumulus clouds, or altocumulus. I grabbed my cameras and hastily strolled along the lake and over to this rocky area at the opposite side of the lake from the campground. Contrary to the impression that I had got the night before that there would be no easy way to climb it, it was not too difficult to make my way up.
After ten minutes or so, I found myself standing on this huge slab jutted out over the lake. Probably twenty feet high from the water, which was so calm that the heavenly body could have been found there. The clouds were rapidly traveling overhead like the running of the bulls, and the entire lake was soon overcrowded with gorgeous brush strokes of sunrise glow.
It felt like a dream. I could not believe my eyes.
As the glow faded, the sky brightened, and I wished I could have spent another day there. And yet I knew I had a distance to cover. When I rose to my feet, they weren’t moving as if they were glued to the slab.
I can’t wait to go back.
