Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken on Cedar Mountain, which is probably misnamed since the top is covered in Aspen forest.

Time

I like to get on the mountain early. Horizontal rays of sunlight illuminate the trees so much more pleasingly than when they come straight down. So I leave my home before dawn timing my arrival to sunrise or just after.

Lighting

See above answer.

Equipment

Hand held Nikon 3500

Inspiration

I could tell, just looking at it, that it was a scene for the ages.

Editing

Just enhanced the color. The camera does not capture the color as well as the eye, so I try to make the colors somewhat brighter to match what I saw.

In my camera bag

Just the camera and a few filters, but I have never used the filters. Not sure I know enough about their use to be worth the effort.

Feedback

Find the right spot and be there at the oportune time.
