Your choice of edit is perfect. I have heard that at times, it's not so easy to allow them to take their photo. Stunning photo of such a unique culture!

THIS IS an outstanding portraiture !
I find it disheartening that the government would want to repress such a unique and vibrant culture.
Unfortunately, throughout history, many nations (including the United States) have not been kind to their peoples.
This image is an opportunity for ALL societies to better see, understand and appreciate, just one of thousands of cultures that make up OUR global community. Maybe, through viewing such warm and honest images like this one, we can begin to learn how to treat each other like neighbors, instead of strangers.
I believe, everyone on VB should see this image.

I wish there were a Photojournalism award I could give you, because this image certainly deserves it. Your respectful approach and the ability to capture not only the man, but the pride within, is remarkable; as is your highly effective and wise choice of editing in selective color, which emphasizes his cultural heritage and provides rich details to this storytelling photograph.
Images this enlightening are rare. Congratulations on creating such an exemplary portrait; I am honored that you decided to share it with us !

The Maasai are a Nilotic ethnic group in Kenya and Tanzania. They are among the best known local populations due to their distinctive customs and dress. The Tanzanian and Kenyan governments have instituted programs to encourage the Maasai to abandon their traditional semi-nomadic lifestyle, but the people have continued their customs. They are considered one of the tallest people in the world, with an average height of 6 ft 3 inches according to some reports.

The Maasai have a polygamous culture.
