I went back to Middlefork Savannah to check out the woodpeckers. I had been told that they are busy in the fall, finding nuts, cracking them and hiding pieces as well as the whole nuts in tree crevices for the winter. They were really, really busy doing this. It was fun to watch. It is about to put the whole nut in the tree crack in this photo.
