If you look real close, you can see a male lion lying in the grass in the foreground. This lion is one of the 2 males that lead a pride of approximately 14 lionesses and cubs. Our guide thinks the males are brothers, since it’s not common for there to be more than one adult male in a pride. The lions had killed a male Cape Buffalo during the night, the males had eaten their fill, and now the lionesses and cubs (and a stray jackal) were eating. The brilliant Tanzanian sunrise was stunning, setting fire to the male’s abundant mane with delightful backlight.
