Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken in nearby Bushy Park ... it's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has amazing lakes, rivers, waterways, trees and animals. It's in the South West corner of London but you feel a million miles away from the city.

Time

It's the best place to go at sunrise and sunset as it seems to capture colours all of its own. It's a truly magical place!

Lighting

The light in this picture was captured at sunset after the sky started to clear after a rainy day in London. The sun came out, the wind dropped and then the sunlight started dancing around on the water all the way through sunset.

Equipment

I used my trust Nikon but didn't have time to use a tripod or swap out the lens as the colours all came together over just a couple of minutes so I fired off about 10 shots and captured to scene right in front of me!

Inspiration

It was a spur of the moment thing ... I was wondering through the park and even started to think I would go home as the weather wasn't all that good.

Editing

No - as this happened in front of me I wanted to save it and see it as I saw it!!!

In my camera bag

Mixture of tripods (large and small to make sure I'm prepared for as many eventualities as possible) plus trusty Nikon and then a small bridge camera and Samsung phone ... helps me to see if my plans in my eyes will transfer to an image to my satisfaction. Taking a couple of quick shots always helps me know if I've got something good to go for and it's not just 'hope'!!

Feedback

Go with the flow! If you think you'll get a good shot - most times you will.
