Every January one of my favorite photo outings is the Brooksville Raid. The people dress up in authentic civil war garb and love their pictures taken. This guy had his own unique look and I took a bunch of photos of him. I applied a technique called Freaky Amazing details by Calvin Hollywood to bring our the tectures in his jacket and beard.

Location
Every year there is a civil war re-enactment in our community. The participants dress up in authentic Civil war garb and provide the many onlookers a perfect glimpse into the past. Every year I anxiously attend the event and shoot many images.Time
This photo was taken mid morning.Lighting
It was taken in Natural light. He was standing in the shade and the light was peeking through the trees on his right side creating some shadows and natural contouring on his face.Equipment
I used a canon 5d with a 70-200 L lens with my aperture set at 3.5, and my iso at 100.Inspiration
When I saw this reenactor he reminded me of Charlie Chaplin. I was intrigued with his look and his clothes. He was engaged in conversation with some others but I was able to photograph him from an angle that isolated him from the other re-enactors.Editing
II shot the image in raw and processed it in photoshop. I also applied a technique called “freaky details” to bring out the texture in his clothes, that I learned from Calvin Hollywood. In my camera bag
My canon 5d, a light meter, my flash and some extra batteries and cards. The lens I carry depends on the subject I am photographing. My tripod is always with me too.Feedback
Be inconspicuous, use a telephoto lens with at least a 200 mm length so you can shoot from afar. Use a wide open aperture so your backgrounds are blurred. And last, Be patient and shoot a lot of photos of each subject. Try different angles including getting low, below your subject, and shooting up.
