It has been a long time since I last did seascape photography. It didn't take me long to remember the challenges this type of photography presents. While a focus on composition and timing is important, it is also crucial to pay attention to where you set up the camera, how you balance the tripod and continue to watch your surroundings. You never know when a rogue wave will get you and-or the camera!
Part of the reason why I love photographing the ocean is that it's constantly changing. No matter what the weather or sky is doing, you've got to consider the tides, the flow and the swell. And when it works, it is very gratifying.
After two soakings by waves and getting rained on, I can safely say I have been welcomed back to seascape photography in style!
