Location
This photograph was taken from on board a cruise ship as we glided through some fjords in Greenland.Time
I remember waking up and opening my curtains and just gasping at the scenery that we were slowly floating by. I was in awe. I only had my iPhone to hand. I got dressed and grabbed my phone and ran up to the upper deck. It was early morning and absolutely freezing, but I didn’t care. The view was just stunning. There’s something so beautiful about the parts of the world that are untouched by humans.Lighting
The air was so crisp and cold, so there was no haze from heat, which you can get when you’re at sea. The lighting was just perfect.Equipment
This photo was shot with an iPhone 7. Just me and my phone.Inspiration
First of all I saw the glacier coming up and then as I looked, I could make out the man smiling, because of the reflection in the water. It was so surreal, I had to photograph him.Editing
Usually I do like to do some quite heavy post - processing, but for this shot I just literally heightened the contrast and saturation a little. The lighting was just so perfect. In my camera bag
Unfortunately I don’t have a camera bag full of equipment. I’m saving up.Feedback
In landscapes like this, I like to look for unusual shapes and lines. I love reflections in still water. The air was cool. The conditions were perfect because I only had my iPhone, I couldn’t really manipulate any factors. I only had control over the actual subject that I chose to shoot.
