Reddish Egret taken on Bolivar Flats on the coast line of Texas. I love to photograph these birds - they are SO entertaining. Here he's a bit windblown, standing still, looking for small fish for breakfast. When he spies one he will dance about in the water, spread his wings a little to block the sun, dance and leap around and then finally plunge his head into the water and come up with a snack. I can watch them for hours! Once they start fishing, they tend to stay in their spot for quite a while. They bob and weave and all of a sudden, they are looking right at you and then......they FLUFF and it's just so cool! I love their feather detail! This one was shot at nearly ground-level.
