Okunoin is technically the name of the cemetery around Kobo Daishi's mausoleum. This is a typical example of the type of memorial headstones here. I really enjoyed the moody atmosphere on this day. The old growth forest seems like such a fitting place for spirits to reside and-or transition into the next realm.
