Chatham Historic Dockyard No3 covered slip built around 1838 and is thought to be the largest wide span timber structure in Europe. Designed by Sir Robert Seppings, Surveyor to the Navy Board. The slipway was filled in and the mezzanine floor was added in 1904 to create a store for ships boats.
