I took this photo at the Japanese Garden at the Missouri Botanical Garden in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA. It is one of my favorite places to visit and work on new subjects I have learned about photographyTime
I took this on one of my Saturday morning trips to the garden. It was about 9:00 AM and there were not many people at the garden yet.Lighting
This shot was taken with natural light. There were a few clouds going over so I waited to get the right amount of light go get the reflection on the edge of the drop of waterEquipment
I took this with my Nikon Coolpix P900. I had it mounted on my tripod for added stability for a macro shot.Inspiration
Most visitors photograph the major attractions. I love looking for unique subjects when I visit the botanical garden. There are little treasures to find while walking around and this was one of them.Editing
The Nikon P900 saves photos in JPEG. I use Lightroom to do my post processing. I set the white & black balance points. I also cloned out some spots of pollen from the Lotus leaf.In my camera bag
I carry with me my Nikon P510 & P900 cameras with which I can easily take macro to telescopic photos. I carry two 8 x10 pieces of foam board. One is black and one is white on one side and aluminum foil attached to the other to affect the lighting. I take my tripod and my case containing my adapter and UV, CPL, FLD and Neutral Density Filters.Feedback
Go off the beaten path. Take your time to look around for new scenes that most people just ignore.
