Location
This was taken at Wilson's Promontory in Victoria, Australia. It's along the Tidal River to Squeaky Beach walk.Time
It was shot late afternoon and was a rather overcast day. This particular location is quick sheltered from the light, so it allowed the model skin to stand out, being the only bright surface in the shot.Lighting
It's natural light, and I've used a subtle vignette to darken the background.Equipment
It was shot with a Canon 6D and a standard Sigma lens. Nothing special really, it all about the model and the artistry of the image. I could have taken this same shot with a modern iPhone and ended with a very similar result.Inspiration
This was actually at the end of the shoot and we were walking back to the car park. I saw this little section of the bush and loved the way it looked. So I ask the model to pop in amongst the ferns for a couple of shots and the rest is history.Editing
All the RAW processing is done in Lightroom to adjust brightness, contrast and some minor colour changes. Then I send that photo to photoshop to do some basic retouching and cropping. In my camera bag
I now carry a 5D mkIII with three Sigma Art Primes. 35mm, 50mm and 85mm. That's about it. Sometimes I'll take a flash, triggers and a diffuser but for the most part I use natural light. It's more freeing, I don't have to constantly monitor the light position and settings, and I'll typically shoot in locations and times of day where the natural light is usually all I need. Though I do use the flash at times to get a more dramatic shot.Feedback
Wilson's Promontory is one of the most beautiful nature parks in Australia. It is almost impossible to get a bad photo so I would encourage those who can travel down to the southernmost tip of mainland Australia to check it out. You won't be disappointed.
