Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from the top of Serra do Pilar Hill in Vila Nova de Gaia.

Time

By mid afternoon of a Summer day

Lighting

It was a sunny day in July, the light was from above illuminating the city.

Equipment

I used my older camera Olympus VG 160, no tripod, flash or special lens.

Inspiration

My loving hometown always inspire me. The view from the hill is very nice as we can see almost the whole old town (UNESCO World Heritage). Besides, the detail of the red heart lock hanging on the rail give me the idea to include it to stress the love I feel for my Oporto.

Editing

I made a few edittings like straightening the image and sharpen it a little bit with light and contrast.

In my camera bag

As a complete but passionate photo amateur, nowadays I rarely take photos with my older digital camera Olympus VG-160, more often with my previous camera Canon Powershot SX730 HS, taking with me extra batteries, a Star 63 166-3D tripod and a small "Gorilla" one. Very recently, I’m using my newest camera Canon EOS200d with a Canon 55-250mm lens and a brand new Tamron lens 18-400mm.

Feedback

Who am I to give advices to others? I'm a laywoman. What I can say is that if you like photography, try to take photos of everything which call your attention or you like. Whenever possible, take into consideration the light, perspective and composition. Photography starts in your mind through your eyes and your images can tell a lot of things to others, help others, inform others. And, if you really like photography and you have no ideas, then… photograph what you have.
