Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at an evening tour of Stonehenge. We were allowed close access to the monument which had officially closed for the day. It was a unique experience---getting up close in an almost personal way with this ancient ruin.

Time

It was an afterhours tour---early evening. That seems to be the only way a person can be that close to the ruins. It also was a time of day when there were no crowds or large groups. The light was still good for photography.

Lighting

This photograph was taken around 7PM. The sun was setting but the light was still good. At that time of day long shadows are cast but the angle of the sun still provides good light.

Equipment

This photo was taken with a Canon Rebel T4i, my best camera at this point in time. I had an EFS 18-135 MM lens on it. This camera is with me most all the time whether a day trip of an extended tour. It has seen many adventures over the years.

Inspiration

I think my trip to the UK would have been incomplete without a visit to this iconic and ancient history the sight. I had heard so much about it and had seen many documentaries on the mysteries that haunt it. There is a haunted, loneliness to this place, especially later in the day. If you look closely at the photo you can seen the moon above the stones. It was a haunted place where you were free to speculate on its meaning.

Editing

I may have imported this through iPhotos. That is the only real photo editing tool I currently have.

In my camera bag

It's basically the Canon Rebel camera. I ould love to have a camera upgrade but for n ow the Canon camera is with me on all my adventures, big or small.

Feedback

If you want great photos taken an after hours tour on a warm summer night. There will be few people about nd you will get up close with the monument.
