This day started out bad: it was the morning we heard Vinnie Paul died - the drummer for Pantera. My husband wanted to remember him by *doing* something (not sitting around brooding) so we went to Cedar Hill State Park which bumps up to Joe Pool Lake -- one of Vinnie's favorite stomping grounds. (We don't own a boat, we own cameras haha). I took the crystal ball and wandered around taking shots. I've never shot with a crystal ball before. This one is of the historical Penn Farm. After we processed them I noticed something beautiful had happened. Notice the colorful spots in the bottom right & left corners of the ball's image - specifically look to the tree on the right side. You may need to zoom in. There is a cluster of colorful prism effects almost in the shapes of shooting stars pointing down toward the farm. Normally someone would throw this image out because those prisms would be 'defects'. Nope, this is perfect. In this "alternate reality view" of the farm the photo came out good, the horizon line is acceptable -- but for me it is those shooting stars that make this photo extra special. They were pointing down on on the farm on the day we were remembering and celebrating Vinnie. You see, after these shots were taken we ate dinner while listening to Pantera at the picnic tables that are right next to this farm. My husband told me stories about him. It was a beautiful day. RIP Vinnie, wish I had met you.
