Le Mont-Saint-Michel is a commune of 33 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2015) in the department of Manche in the Normandy region. The community exists since 708 on the rocky island of Mont Saint-Michel in the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel in the Wadden Sea of Normandy. The island is about one kilometer from the coast and only about 55,000 m² in size (circumference about 830 meters). Nearby are the mouth of Couesnon, the city of Avranches and the border with Brittany. The landscape is called Avranchin.
