Location
In a sunflower field right in the heart of Kansas.Time
This was taken during the golden hour. But it was overcast that day.Lighting
I used a GoDox 600 with an octobox for front fill light and the light hitting her hair is from what was peaking through the clouds.Equipment
I used a Canon 5d either III or Ds. I can't remember, but it was either of those bodies and my 85mm prime lens. That lens is my go to lens and I typically always use that.Inspiration
My daughter wanted sunflower portraits since I was photographing a lot of seniors in the sunflower fields...I did her hair and grabbed this dress for her out of her closet. When I got this shot, I actually fell off my stool and looked up at her on got this shot.Editing
There is minimal post processing. Since she has freckles, I don't like to do much retouching on her skin. There were a few minor color correction adjustments. In my camera bag
So its the equipment that I was keep in my SUV...I always have my 85mm prime. Literally that's all I shoot with. I have other lenses. But for me personally, I find it is the best lens for portraits. I carry a 70-200 and a 24-105. Those are in my bag. Along with a Mark IV or a Ds. But in the back of my SUV, I always keep a step ladder, step stool, hair spray and brush. And I also keep a GoDox 600, a Denny's EZ stand, an octobox and sand bags. This helps me get light in any situation and be able to make my clients' look good by having some grooming supplies on hand.Feedback
Feather your light. Don't point your light directly at the subject. But feathering the light in front of the subject will help you create a nice light instead of that catch light directly in the center of the eye. Also, be sure that the bottom of your softbox is at the shoulders of your subject. This will help you get your light in the right spot and not too low.
