Kootenay Provincial Park, Canada

While exploring the Canadian Rockies last year, I hiked up this trail on a whim. I had not heard of it before, and had only discovered it's existence by driving by the trailhead.

What I found was a gorgeous upper meadow fed by melting glacier waters. Since sunset was late this time of year, I was by far the last person up here. I enjoyed my time running along this creek (and the adjacent meadow) looking for compositions and just taking it all in. The rush of the water, the quality of the light, and the textures of the rocks. All the plant life here, looked happy! Perhaps idyllic is a good word for it.

After the light had faded, I headed down the trail in darkness (with a headlamp of course). This is bear territory, so it was a bit sketchy, but I made sure to make as much noise even though I was quite tired. Upon reaching the car, I filled with a huge sense of relief and satisfaction for the experience.
