Very sad to announce that my lovely Blue Bayou Dahlia wilted and faded away today for reasons that are unclear. This is her first and only fully-opened flower; she had three others in varying stages of maturity when I had to cut her down. She will be greatly missed.

gosh, I don't think I'll try again next year, as she grew to be SOOO tall. I constantly battled with drooping leaves and concern about tuber rot. Just not meant to be. Still, she was so gorgeous!

So sad, such a rare beauty that you photographed so well,. Dahlia’s don’t last long here in the Uk they seem to have short lives:-)

Yes, very sad, my friend. But, we live and learn. Don't think I will try this variety again. Other varieties are doing very well this year (thankfully) so all of my hard work has paid off! ッ

Hot this year in Canada ... tough keeping them blooming but need lots of watering compared to last year.

Oh, Dale . . . it has been so unusually hot here in NM and for excessively long periods of time, too. The intense heat has been hard on everything in the garden . . . including ME!
