The Kofa Mountains in Western Arizona are a rugged, jagged, other-worldly photographic location that make you work for any photo you achieve here. First you must drive 3-4 hours from Phoenix or Los Angeles. Then you have to have a 4X4 with high clearance to trek the final hour over uneven, rocky terrain. Finally, you must carefully traverse cholla laden land to a vantage point that is reminiscent of Patagonia. The result, for those who put in the work, is sublime.
