This is the 192 years old Gopuram (Sanskrit language name for Tower), of Chamundeswari temple, located atop Chamundi hill, Mysuru, karnataka state of India.
Chamundeswari is the Goddess worshiped by royal family and the devotees.
The Gopuram is built around 1825..1826, by the king Krishnaraja Wodeyar II.
It is a seven tired Gopuram, decorated with intricate carvings.
There are seven kalashas (Sanskrit name for pots), inverted pots with pointed head facing the sky. They are normally made of metals like Bronze.
Each tier has a central opening, flanked by Dwarapalikas (Sanskrit name for Guards).
Gopuram forms the main entrance for the temple.
Gopuram is a typical Pyramidal structure in Dravidian tradition.
Dravidian architecture are found in southern states of India.

Behind The Lens

Location

Sri CHAMUNDESWARI temple Gopuram photo was captured on top of Chamundi hill, situated near Mysuru city , Karnataka state, India.

Time

Photo was captured in the morning around 11AM

Lighting

Gopuram is facing east , Sun light falls on the front portion of Gopuram also light engulfs all around Gopuram bathing it with Golden light rays, photo was captured from West of Gopuram so that diffused Golden rays effect can be captured.

Equipment

Used a mobile phone camera, hand held with no special adjustments.

Inspiration

Temple Gopuram was built by kings of Mysuru, built on the principles of Indian architecture, is a great historical monument. felt,capturing photo of such architectural Gopuram is a challenging task , so felt inspired to take this photo and to share with Viewbug family members.

Editing

Since it is a mobile camera photo only cropping and slight lighting adjustment was done.
