This is the 192 years old Gopuram (Sanskrit language name for Tower), of Chamundeswari temple, located atop Chamundi hill, Mysuru, karnataka state of India.
Chamundeswari is the Goddess worshiped by royal family and the devotees.
The Gopuram is built around 1825..1826, by the king Krishnaraja Wodeyar II.
It is a seven tired Gopuram, decorated with intricate carvings.
There are seven kalashas (Sanskrit name for pots), inverted pots with pointed head facing the sky. They are normally made of metals like Bronze.
Each tier has a central opening, flanked by Dwarapalikas (Sanskrit name for Guards).
Gopuram forms the main entrance for the temple.
Gopuram is a typical Pyramidal structure in Dravidian tradition.
Dravidian architecture are found in southern states of India.
