Recently, I made a "short" side trip to Channels State Park that turned out to be much more of an adventure than planned. I was simply attempting to scout the area to determine if a more involved trip later would be worth it. Simple answer, yes. Also, my ill-prepared hike up a deceivingly difficult trail was also totally worth it. I'll be going back for certain.

One of the things that intrigued me most about the park was the trees that found root in crevasses between rocks, or on the forest floor between towering boulders, and managed to rise above the rock formations towards the sky. Likewise in life, we are not always blessed with an equal or optimum footing to start with, but through grit and determination, we can take root and rise above the obstacles that seemingly tower over us.
