Location
This image was taken at Tuban Beach, BaliTime
This shot was taken around 5.00pm as the sun was starting to set.Lighting
I was lucky the lighting was perfect this afternoon with the setting sun a beautiful golden colour enabling me to get the silhouette shot of the fisherman casting his net that I had been after.Equipment
This shot was taken on a Canon 70D with a Canon 70-300 F4-5.6 L IS USM lens. The settings were ISO400 f6.3 at 1/1250sec. I also had the camera in burst function to enable me to capture the subject casting the net from leaving his hand to when the net hit the water. As I was standing in water and moving constantly no tripod was used or flash was used.Inspiration
I had been watching this fisherman for a couple of days prior and thought how good his silhouette would be against a golden setting sun however with no decent sunsets did not approach him. On this day with perfect conditions I spoke to him as he walked along the beach and asked if he minded if I took a series of shots of him casting his net, he was more than happy and after following him for around an hour I was more than happy with some of the results. He was very pleased that I waited for him to finish his fishing and showing him some of the images. Unfortunately he did not have any luck with a catch this day.Editing
The only post-processing with this image is auto colours and auto sharpening in ACDC.In my camera bag
I normally carry two Canon camera bodies an 80D and 90D together with two telephoto Canon lenses a 100-400mm 1:4.5-5.6 L IS USM and 15-85mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS USM as well as a macro 100mm 1:2.8 L IS USM. I also carry a canon flash and tripod on short hikes.Feedback
If the weather conditions are not suitable one day for the image you have envisaged be patient (if you have time) and perhaps the next day will be perfect will be kinder to you. If you are taking a series of shots I always ask permission before hand and do not get in way.
